Today I decided to move my desktop to jaunty. It's still an alpha but I'm not afraid of having to face a non-working Xorg once in a while and having to use the VTs instead. Given the speed improvements I've read about... the time is now... there's just a tiny little problem. I have no room left to do the dist-upgrade:

Deborphan will help

Take a look at deborphan and gtkorphan (GUI for deborphan). I ran into a similar problem as you when I did an update to hardy. I like to install packages and then if I don't like them/use them I uninstall them. This activity tends to leave a lot of random libraries around. I cleaned up a /lot/ of space with deborphan cleaning out these unused libraries.
