Version 4.3 of the lean Puppy Linux distribution is now available to download. At a size of just about 110 Mbytes, the system with its JWM and IceWM window managers offers up to date applications and includes many new features. This kind of Sugar is actually *good* for kids… Put an OLPC in your pocket with Sugar on a Stick.
A good friend of mine purchased an OLPC when they were first released. He wasn’t impressed with it, but I can’t say the same… Sugar on a Stick runs great on my old Eee PC 900, and is a lot more intuitive than you’d think, even for a grup!

How to use a swapfile to increase the swap space of your linux system
You you have alloted a low space while installing, or you have upgraded your RAM, or you think you need some more swap space then what will you do. You can go to the partion table make make changes, but this can cause many problems.
Instead you can just make a file and assign it to the swap.

Anybody up to writing good directory software?
Tue, 2007-02-20 11:17 — David JonathanFrom the very start, directories have served a very useful purpose on the Internet. (One I find useful for example is Free Web Directory). News sites can also be considered directories: they index and categorize news stories! What about categorizing software? In the open source world you get Savannah, SourceForge, Freshmeat; there are still, believe it or not, shareware and freeware directories like FileBuzz, PCWin Download Center and Freeware Downloads (although you need to be careful, as they are not like their free-as-in-freedom counterparts).
Is better education the key to finding better software?

Most of what you find on Google, however, are not pointing to free and open soruce software -- or worse, they mix the two. Examples of such sites are Freeware Downloads and Shareware Download, which simply don't focus on "free as in freedom", and still can be used as good free software directories.
