When starting learning Glade, it is essential to learn the basic concepts of GTK+. Unfortunately there is a misconception that it’s enough to learn Glade for learning GUI designing rather than learning GTK+. Glade is definitely an easier way to implement GTK but it is impossible to create interface for your application with only Glade knowledge.

Completely functional virsh (Libvirt 0.1.7-15) & GRUB2 Support at Xen 3.4.3 on top of F12
Recent pulling GRUB2 supporting CSs into xen-3.4-testing.hg immediately makes sense to build xen 3.4.3-2.fc12.src.rpm to be able to set up current version of 3.4.3 Xen Hypervisor on Fedora 12 working pretty smoothly with Libvirt packages ( vs Xen 4.0) and the at same time supporting GRUB2 PV DomUs , say Ubuntu 9.10 Server or Debian Sqeeze.

ImageMagick Fun
One of my professors mailed us a PDF of a scanned document to read (and print out) for the next class. Being that is was scanned in there was a lot of excess black in the picture. I don’t know about you, but printing 2 large blocks of solid black, for 22 pages, doesn’t sound like a wise investment of toner. But ah! Why don’t I just crop off the excess part? Anybody up to writing good directory software?
Tue, 2007-02-20 11:17 — David JonathanFrom the very start, directories have served a very useful purpose on the Internet. (One I find useful for example is Free Web Directory). News sites can also be considered directories: they index and categorize news stories! What about categorizing software? In the open source world you get Savannah, SourceForge, Freshmeat; there are still, believe it or not, shareware and freeware directories like FileBuzz, PCWin Download Center and Freeware Downloads (although you need to be careful, as they are not like their free-as-in-freedom counterparts).

Most of what you find on Google, however, are not pointing to free and open soruce software -- or worse, they mix the two. Examples of such sites are Freeware Downloads and Shareware Download, which simply don't focus on "free as in freedom", and still can be used as good free software directories.
