Mastering a DVD using QDVDAuthor
There are not a lot of free software options for mastering DVDs. One of the more complete solutions is QDVDAuthor, although it still has a number of rough spots. It's a front-end to a collection of command-line free software tools that do each of the individual steps involved in going from a collection of digital video files, audio files, and images to a DVD with menus.

openSUSE 11.2 Gnome edition - Fantastic
I'm such a plonker. I've only recently realized that all these years, I've never tried openSUSE with the Gnome desktop. And having just done that, I must say I regret the omission oh so badly, because openSUSE 11.2 with Gnome is simply fabulous. Even more so than the KDE edition.

KDE 4.4 Release Candidate 1 Available
KDE has made the first release candidate of the KDE Software Compilation 4.4 available. The first KDE SC release (albeit not a stable one) is the first release candidate for the upcoming KDE Software Compilation 4.4.0 which will be released on February 9th.

Possible solutions to Fix the Missing Network Manager Icon in Ubuntu 9.10
This morning, I booted up my laptop and tried to connect to the school's wireless when I noticed that the icon for Network Manager was missing from the toolbar. I checked to see that Network Manager was running and it was, the icon had just disappeared for some reason.
