Among the most interesting sessions that I sat in on at the FUDcon Fedora user/developer conference which wrapped up earlier this week was a discussion on trademarks.

Should we really have to call it GNU/Linux instead of just Linux?The question lingers in my mind after a recent reader commented and corrected me that I should use the term "GNU/Linux" when referring to the entire operating system. I guess the naming controversy quietly lives on.

Twas a night before Christmas it was the 12th to be exact at 3 am beside my computer I did sat. My ubuntu did stall, I had pondered and pondered and did a fresh install. Swiftly I got to the the manual partition, then suddenly I had a fine apparition.

Save KDE 3.5.10! Save openSuSE with KDE 3.5.10! Fix OpenSuSE 11.1 and dump KDE 4.x.x .... some of us want to see 11.1 work; fix it please!!! We don't need or want KDE 4.x.x.!!!

In our lives we tend to apply stereotypes. Everyone has a stereotype for their work, ethnic persuasion or geographical location. Particularly in the computing industry there exists, often spiteful, stereotypes between windows and Linux advocates.

I am a K/Ubuntu user. That means that I am lazy and spoiled. I have access to the largest repositories. I have the biggest and friendliest community. I have lots of podcasts, blogs, IRC channels and help forums devoted to my every need. In short, K/Ubuntu has everything that I need except for one thing. It is not Fedora.

The article “Google Chrome OS. Or, how KDE and GNOME managed to shoot each other dead” is intentionally outspoken and controversial. It invites comment and criticism - one can hardly declare two of the best known and most widely used Free Software projects to be “dead” without causing uproar.
