Canonical and the Linux kernel
There's been a lot of discussion recently about Canonical and it's contributions to upstream, mainly due to an off-the-cuff comment by GregKH on a google video, and mainly in relation to the Linux kernel. Greg's statement, while correct when compared to his data, was incorrect because of improper data collection.

Who is promoting Linux? and who isn't.
We read columns, articles, blogs all the time, telling us where companies should be adopting GNU/Linux, tossing out other OS's and using Open Source software to reap maximum savings... But, where do these companies, and even smaller ones, get their advice? who tells them the way to go? Is it all inhouse admins, executives and techs?

"...Are you tired of constantly being prompted to download proprietary software and plugins to play the videos and listen to the music you want? Are you fed up with seeing new gadgets that only use incompatible and restrictive audio and video formats? Should Ubuntu Brand It’s Wallpaper?
Recently, I read an article describing some of the things people say about the author's Ubuntu laptop. The post described the funniest quotes, not the most popular, but I was still interested to see that many people seemed to think that the Ubuntu laptop was running Mac OS X or a new version of Windows.
Read more »Mac lovers hurting the Linux desktop?
Umm...I don't think the Linux desktop faces any real threat from a group of developers advocating for change. I'm not sure a group of Mac fans could possibly do the Linux desktop more harm than it has done to itself. The Linux desktop is already in serious jeopardy, and it has nothing to do with which developer kit people use to build it, or changes to Gtk+. Miguel de Icaza disagrees:
