Creating a Contacts Database in OpenOffice
The steps for setting up any mail-merge document in OpenOffice are easy; the one potentially gnarly bit is creating your contacts database in the first place. Your contacts list must be in Base, which is a bit of a pain. But the good news is Base can import data from most other databases, spreadsheets, text-delimited files, and email address books.

Why small is beautiful
It seems the $499 ultra-portable Asus Eee PC can do no wrong. The size of a paperback, weighing less than a kilogram, with built-in wi-fi and using flash memory instead of a hard drive for storage, the Eee PC has been winning positive comments not just from breathless reviewers but from ordinary people who have bought it and loved it.

Maintaining clarity
For the last two years, OLPC has been more a second home than workplace. My coworkers were another family, and we all worked harder than we thought possible. Inside Microsoft's OSS Lab
To some folks outside of Microsoft, the Open-Source Software Lab has been a sort of mysterious place. A place where we study Linux and open-source software, cursing our enemies while brewing our malevolent plans to combat those nasty FOSS developers. Oh, and we also have a death ray on the roof of building 17. It's Linux-powered, of course, just to add a little irony.

Android, Schmandroid: Linux on the iPhone
Apple has been battling renegade Linux hackers, upgrading the iPhone's firmware every time they hack into the device. "It has been a little bit of an arms war," said Saurik, aka Jay Freeman.
