When I was using Windows XP I would use UltraVNC to access my desktop remotely, then when I “upgraded” to Vista I did not take to the time to do that, instead I used the built in Remote Desktop feature. Now that I have truly upgraded to Ubuntu, I want to be able to access my machine remotely.

I have been hearing a lot lately about how Windows Vista is supposedly more secure overall than the popular Linux distros in the market today. After soaking this in and having a chance to think about it, I can come to only one conclusion: Microsoft must believe that vulnerabilities are worse than actual, in-motion exploits being used against exiting operating systems.

Most clipboard implementations only have the ability to store one item in them, so if you copy and paste a lot having space for one item only can be frustrating. Add to that the fact that selecting any text when using X11 (the underlying graphical platform underneath Linux) copies it to the clipboard in the default configuration, you can easily lose what you wanted to copy. The Scientific Linux project last week announced the release of Scientific Linux 4.5, an install-only distribution rebuilt from source code for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. It features a 2.6.18 kernel, GNOME default desktop, multilingual support, and Xen paravirtual guest capabilities.

I thought it was stupid that it had to be called IceWeasel and before even looking into it I assumed that someone from either Debian or Mozilla was being a control freak or stubborn about something. I would come to find out I was right and wrong at the same time which was new for me, since I am used to just being wrong most of the time.
