Kaptan is the “welcome” application of Pardus, a Linux desktop distribution developed and maintained by the Turkish National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE), an arm of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).

It is a user-friendly, point-and-click application designed to help you configure some basic settings of the Pardus desktop, and it is usually run at first boot, but may also be run at any time.

This article is used to show the options configurable from Kaptan. The screenshots were taken from an installation of Pardus 2011.1, the latest stable release of Pardus.
