Fork a kernel, kill an "OS" and revolutionize the desktop

http://www.nuxified.org

The news of Con Kolivas, a Linux kernel developer, quitting that role, along with an interview in which he explains why, could and should make loud noises around the Free Software community which is often touting GNU/Linux as the best operating system one could use, and not just because of freedom you have with it.

The pen is mightier than the FUD

http://lxer.com

"For those who have tried and failed to follow the train of thought in the article, it goes a bit like this: Richard Stallman personally cares little for material wealth, so RMS's main objective must be to strip other people of their wealth as well, or to prevent other people of ever becoming wealthy.

http://thinkthick.blogspot.com

Linux fans (myself included) love to argue to Windows users how much better the Linuxes are than Microsoft Windows. Now don't get me wrong, I am not posting this to disprove that Linuxes, BSD's, or any of the *nixes are better than Windows, they really are.

Garnering support for non-proprietary software such as Linux and Firefox

http://dotancohen.com

I have often been called a fool for paying for software that everybody else pirates. Suddenly, I was neither paying for software nor stealing it. I felt relieved, literally. I was no longer a fool, and I had stood my moral ground. My data was accessible and safe. My whole computer was safe, for that matter, as months went by with neither virus nor operating system crash.

"Open-Source Government"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com

"In recent years, we've seen the growth of a canker on the Constitution. A swelling blind spot where were are increasingly not allowed to look. I'm talking about abuse of governmental secrecy. 'We the people' cannot effectively self-govern when certain things are routinely hidden from our view."

Low Cost PCs: Bad for Linux

http://www.madpenguin.org

As popular as they have been in the past, I still have some mixed feelings when it comes to the PR health of really low cost Linux PCs. On one hand, they are fantastic as they allow people access to modern computing that may have otherwise been prevented from switching from an older system or finding access to one, for that matter.

Top Linux Misconceptions

So, when Adrian refers to users not being "all that dissatisfied," I can only assume that he is referring to the limited number of Windows power users who understand how to dodge Windows XP bullets with spyware, viruses and worms?
