Like other OpenOffice.org applications, Calc has several dozen options in how it is formatted and operates. These options are available from Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice.org Calc. Thanks to OpenOffice.org's habit of sharing code between applications, some of the tabs for these options resemble those found in other OpenOffice.org applications.

Yoper claims to be a high-performance Linux distribution optimized for newer processors. It incorporates components from other distros, but its packages have been built from scratch to provide enhanced performance. I tested a beta of Yoper 3.0 on my desktop a year ago and was so impressed that when 3.0 was released this month, I installed it on my new Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv6105 notebook.

Dreamlinux offers new multimedia edition
The Dreamlinux project, a Brazilian distribution based on Debian, Knoppix, and Morphix, today announced the release of a Multimedia GL edition of Dreamlinux 2.2. This live CD with a graphical hard disk installation option boots directly into an XFce desktop and features a 2.6.18.1 kernel and moderate-sized application package.

Red Hat Profit Surges 17 Percent in Q1
Red Hat's first quarter profit, reported Wednesday, jumped 17 percent from the year-ago period, bolstered by new offerings and the continuation of high-dollar partnerships. In October, shares of Red Hat tumbled 24 percent on the news that Oracle was to move aggressively onto Red Hat's turf by selling maintenance services for Red Hat products.
