Funtoo Linux installed!!!

Finally, I got Funtoo Linux, a derivative of Gentoo Linux, installed on my desktop. It took me three tries to finally get Funtoo Linux to run. Funtoo successfully booted up the first time. It was not difficult to install but then again, it was not easy. My goal is to create my own Gentoo-based distro using Metro.

What is so special about the Linux name and why are so many companies and products using it? Was that name around before the advent of the Linux operating system? As far as I know Linux is a made up word of the combination of Linus and Tux, the founder and mascot of the operating system.
