ID cards
It's good that they're at least talking about the issues, but the conservatives were very enthusiastic about ID cards in the 1990s so it wouldn't surprise me if the surveillance trend continues to expand under the next administration. It looks like successive administrations of all political parties have tried to introduce some form of ID card and central identity database in the UK, but have not been successful so far due to public opposition.
