I researched and played with many different devices before deciding on my Asus T91MT. It amazes me how many people do not even know they exist when they released almost a year ago! The iPad on the other hand got more press than you can shake a stick at and everyone under the sun knows what it is after just a few weeks.

Nothing related to free software, or freedom

It is just a some technical point of view about iPad versus T91MT. Moreover, this devices are sold with proprietary OS preinstalled -- why we should support them?

And, in my opinion, it's x86-based processor is a negative side. Free software OSes can run (as a rule for many of them) on different processor architectures and ARM one is very good one. It is simple, more or less powerful, much electical energy eating and cheaper -- everything of that is better for portable device such as that one. x86 is the last century technology, CISC has no advantages, it has an enormous quantity of transistors comparing to any RISC one processors, and with relatively little performance increase.
