"Throughout Latin America the “Latin American Festival of Installation of Free Software” (FLISOL 2008) recently concluded. This event, which has been held since 2005, has as its main objective to promote the use of free software, presenting its philosophy, its scopes and development.

FLISOL - The Latin American Festivals of Installation of Free Software are install fests organized by the regional free software communities since 2005. The event is the largest distributed free software event in the world — last year, there were install fests in more than 200 cities in 18 countries in Latin America.

El Festival Latinoamericano de Instalación de Software Libre, FLISOL, no puede seguir siendo celebrada por personas que ignoran el significado de Software Libre y que continúan promocionando mero software a lo más Open Source (aunque No-Libre) y convenios con empresas que integran a la comunidad en el desarrollo de sus aplicaciones pero se quedan con el dinero.

Would you be kind enough to provide us at FLISoL Bogotá with say, 15 or 20 of those installation CDs/DVDs? We won't be using them to install Windows on the computers, don't have to worry about it. I will personally hand them out to the kids so that they use them to play around (as frisbies or just to scratch on their surface) while we are on our stuff.

Open Source software was at the heart of multimedia coverage of this year's National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. The Cue Online website is powered by Drupal, while CuePix is running a vanilla installation of Menalto's Gallery2. Cue is the official festival newspaper.
