Which GPL is it?
Which GPL is it? Version 2 or 3?
As far as I can see, it is a similar problem as tivoisation.
That problem is only solved with version 3 of the GPL.
By the way, if the copyright holder himself put it there, then that's not a license violation. But still calling it Free Software is misleading then.
