What you should be aware of and concerned about as a consumer is those machines labeled as "Designed for Windows 8". Much more so if you care about the environmental and humanitarian problems caused by e-wastes, for these machines do end up much earlier as e-wastes than the ordinary machines manufactured now.

The major hardware corporations are using UEFI to conspire with M$ in demanding that we trust the most untrustworthy software corporation in recorded history.
This is a similar situation to Australia being subject to British Crown Law when the British Crown is the most lawless criminal syndicate in all recorded history.
Incidentally, M$ has strong links with the same criminal gang.
