I had the time to play yet another exciting game on my Linux box. It’s a free first person shooter called Urban Terror. The game is a total modification of the immensely popular Quake III Arena. It introduces many elements of the tactical shooter genre --team-driven gaming in more realistic environments.

Urban terror is a great FREE FPS Game with low system requirements, it features realistic game play similar to counter strike and works flawlessly in Linux. Its easy to install, its available in the repository so installation in Fedora is very easy, you just need to type one command.

In the last article, we have reviewed three excellent First Person Shooters (FPS) - OpenArena, Sauerbraten and Nexuiz ............Today, we'll talk about games where you play as a human - against other humans. Our two candidates are AssaultCube and Urban Terror.

Urban Terror is a great 1st person online team shooter with great graphics, and a whole heap of maps. Whatsmore, the online community is very active, I had no problem at all connecting to a server.

Urban Terror (or UrT for short, not to be confused with Unreal Tournament) is a great standalone first-person shooter available for Linux too, using the ioQuake3 engine. In this article I'll show several ways to make it a little faster by tweaking several variables in favour of performance over good looking graphics.
