Both projects started out with the intention of being used with the GNOME desktop, but have recently made a push to be desktop-independent and work with KDE and other desktop environments. Big difference

Having used both Tracker and Beagle, there is one big difference: Beagle is jam-packed with Mono, Tracker isn't.

Tracker can do everything that Beagle can and does it better.

Tracker: the obvious choice for Free Software users.
