"Math you Can't Use" by Ben Klemens

The book that Peter Brown mentions in the article, "Math you Can't Use," is really fascinating. The author discusses software patents from various perspectives: law, computer science, mathematics, and economics. He explains why the whole idea of patenting software is flawed and makes recommendations for better laws (which is also the goal of the campaign at http://EndSoftPatents.org that the linked article mentions).

The book is extremely well-written, and the arguments it makes are really helpful when I discuss these issues with non-geeks. If you're interested in software patents, "Math you Can't Use" is a book that you should have.
