Mozilla vice president of products Jay Sullivan says that unlike Google, the open source outfit has no intention of bundling Firefox with Adobe Flash —– or with a plug-in that runs native code inside the browser. Mozilla, Sullivan says, believes that the future of online applications lies with web standards, including HTML5.

The Free Software Foundation (FSF) today announced the appointment of John Sullivan as its new executive director.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.5 has been released and is currently being distributed to Firefox 2 users via the application's built-in software update system. The browser upgrade fixes several security bugs, which are detailed in the Firefox 2.0.0.5 section of the Mozilla Foundation Security Advisories page.

The Mozilla Foundation has named Mark Surman as its new Executive Director effective September 22. Surman is currently serving as an Open Philanthropy Fellow at the Shuttleworth Foundation.

John Lilly, CEO of Mozilla Corporation, has said Mozilla is not worried about the announcement of Google's Chrome web browser. In an interview with Om Malik, Lilly said "They feel that they can make a better browser by starting from scratch–advances in browsers are good."
