There is an easy way to solve the problem though. The solution is a software called EasyUbuntu witch adds almost all necessary extensions to the Ubuntu. Install EasyUbuntu after a fresh Ubuntu installation and usual codecs, graphics drivers, Flash-plugin, Java etc will be installed in an easy way. EasyUbuntu also installs common software as Skype and a couple of compression utilities like 7-Zip as an example.

I voted this down because it promotes a number of non-free software. This type of software does not respect the users' freedom.

This promotes Adobe Flash and Skype specifically. There are other unnamed non-free titles but it is implied that the EasyUbuntu program will also promote other non-free software such as:
w32codecs
Rarlabs RAR codec
Nvidia and ATI's proprietary video drivers
