I hear this too often - Windows is easier to use than Linux. And so in light of this, being as I have used both operating systems for years, I thought I would put this to the test, the results are not going to make Windows users feel too good about this desktop choice overall, I'm afraid.

The age old "discussions" that float around the internet in regards to Linux and windows security are contentious ones. It all seems to boil down to Linux people saying that Linux is more secure and windows people saying that it is not. In this case the windows guys are right, with exceptions.

There is a figure that I heard or read on the internet somewhere. I can't remember exactly where so please don't rake me over the coals over it. That figure is that it takes one administrator for every fifty windows machines but for every two hundred Linux machines only one administrator is needed.

Vista is pricey, and its form and function are of course dictated by Microsoft. If you want full control over your Home Theater PC (HTPC), and don’t want to have to pay Microsoft for it, then Linux is a more than capable alternative base for building a system of your own.
