Back in the mists of time I looked at a command-line utility called Scrot.

http://www.linuxdynasty.org

Here is a fairly new Linux distribution and like many new ones out there this distribution is based off of Ubuntu Linux. The installation was just an easy 7 steps just as most other Ubuntu based distributions. What makes this distribution stand out is the fact that most of the necessary Media Apps and Codecs are already installed for you so you do not have to do that for your self.

Kubuntu 8.10 'Intrepid Ibex' Beta Screenshots Tour

http://tuxarena.blogspot.com

I took these screenshots using a Kubuntu Intrepid Beta installation after performing a full dist-upgrade, at 1280x1024, with the nVIDIA 173 driver installed. I left all the settings in applications default, but I had to make fonts smaller and resize windows (in Konqueror for example), because they didn't look very well as default. The default theme used is Oxygen.

Howto: Setup a Software Firewall in Linux using Firestarter

http://www.techthrob.com

One of the great features included in Linux is the IPtables firewall. Unfortunately, its command-line use is rather complex, and it can be intimidating for even experienced Linux users to configure it. Firestarter is a friendly graphical interface that allows you to configure a software firewall in Linux using the built-in IPtables/IPchains utilities.

How to take screenshots with Scrot

http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com

There are many ways to take screenshots and most KDE and Gnome users will be familiar with the GUI tools bundled with them: Ksnapshot for KDE and Take Screenshot for Gnome. They are good at what they do. However, sometimes you just need to take screenshots quick and dirty without the overheads (especially if you are using a lightweight windows manager on a relatively low-spec machine).
