If Ever Linux Rules....
Can you think of any changes that will take place if Linux dethrones Windows and Microsoft goes broke? Well, I just thought it over and these ideas came to my mind. Most of them are fictional and are meant for amusement only. Hope you enjoy!

Who told you that reading a license is boring?
In the last 24 hours I implemented Licenses validation, whitelisting, masking and database support to Entropy. When I started, I tried to find out if someone (maybe crazy like me?) had already made a list of free (as in freedom and/or beer) software licenses. I didn’t dig too much and decided to have a look at /usr/portage/licenses. OMG, 811 licenses to read!

Free software Easter eggs
It is grey a dull, overcast day here in downtown Amsterdam. The weather is rather oppressive, summer’s smile long gone and my wine cellar miraculously has grown to quiet emptiness. However, I know a not too-well guarded secret. Hidden in the cracks, just at the edge of your eyesight, is extra humorous functionality in your favourite free software applications. Silent professional Easter eggs are waiting stealthily to make you smile.

Unless your into roll playing dressing up as Tux (The Linux Penguin) is not really sexy. If you want to do something sexy for your Geek you may have to do something a little Risque. You’ll have to find your partners stance on BSD first and see how they react to it. Possibly bring it up in conversation some how. If your geek doesn’t blow up in a rage that you mention an inferior operating system then you probably be able to get away with my favorite and the first option (if you do this every one who reads The Linux Blog will want to see the pictures):

The Seven Kinds of Ziff-Davis or CNET anti-Linux FUD Pundits
While the bloggers in my neighborhood seem to be trying to catalog the FOSS users as if we were a species of butterfly or something, I thought I'd contribute to the noise. Only my offering will be a taxonomy of those writers whose mighty corporate paychecks make them columnists while their desire to roll around on the floor with the kids and be cool makes them "bloggers". And then we'll narrow that field down to the ones who turn their attention to open source software.

Why I Keep Reinstalling Linux
It drives my wife nuts when I reinstall an operating system. She'll just get used to how things are working, and then I go an format the drive and start over. 9 Tips for the aspiring Emacs playboy
"I consider myself a beginning Lisper. I’ve been developing my software in Emacs for 8 months now. At first, I was clumsy at it. Emacs can be difficult and daunting. The terminology is different from what I’m used to, the key bindings are different, and there are just so many commands, configurations, and modes. But I’ve persevered and I now find myself quite nimble with key bindings and structured editing. And yet there’s still more to learn.
The subject of what to learn is treated in many online tutorials and printed books. But here, now, I thought I’d share some tips I use to keep the key bindings in my head from being garbage collected..."
