The eighth annual KDE PIM developer meeting in Osnabrück, Germany started out with an extended snowball fight among the Scottish, German and Dutch contingencies. That actual work was being done was evidenced by enhancements to Akonadi, KDE 4.4 and 4.5, and planned further development of the Kontact groupware client.

About 150 representatives from 15 countries in Asia gathered at the Yen Center in Silang where they discussed developments in open source in a communal environment.

PyCon 2009 drew nearly a thousand Python programmers from around the world, representing projects on all seven continents - including Antarctica! They gathered for serious learning, discussion, and strategizing... and for not-so-serious fun. PyCon 2010, the eighth annual conference of the Python programming community, promises even more.

Heather Buchanan isn't organising anything very technical for the next Australian national Linux conference. But her contributions will remain with the delegates much longer than those of the other volunteers.
