I think you are confused about how capability, authority and freedom are connected when we refer to freedom. When you accept Skype's "use terms of conditions", you don't gain any freedom. What you do gain is restricted authority to use the capabilities found in the Skype system.

The "Idea for Change: Support the Free Software Movement" is in 9th place with 2 weeks left!

There are only 2 weeks left in the first round of the "Ideas for Change in America" competition, and the "Idea for Change: Support the Free Software Movement" is in 9th place in the Technology Policy category.

The top 3 rated ideas for each category will make it to the second round, which will be held in early January... We need 135 votes to move up to third place in Technology Policy.

FS Daily badly needs to fix its authentication module

I have been using FS Daily for so long and I really think it is great for the community and I do use it almost every day. I hope someone will seriously look into it and fix these fundamental issues that makes using it such a pain currently.

I wanted to write about it for so long, but could not wait any longer.

In the 1990s, the European Patent Office created a bizarre interpretation whereby "as such" is a reference to "as programs for computers", and thus the exclusion can be completely ignored if the patent application uses a name other than "programs for computers" for the claimed idea.

Bordeaux 1.4 Released with Microsoft Office 2003 support

Bordeaux 1.4 was released today and its a  significant upgrade over the prior 1.2 release, version 1.4 comes with support for Microsoft Office 2003, Visio 2003 and Project 2003. Version 1.4 has improved Office 2000 menu support and Cellar support fixes.
