I think you are confused about how capability, authority and freedom are connected when we refer to freedom. When you accept Skype's "use terms of conditions", you don't gain any freedom. What you do gain is restricted authority to use the capabilities found in the Skype system.
I am writing a series of posts that address various myths and misconceptions about free software. In this first post, I address the misconception that users have no need for freedom 1 as they lack the capability to practise this freedom.
I had recently discovered the Lojban language while I was surfing the net. The characteristics of this language greatly appealed to me as a debater and so, I decided to heavily invest my effort into studying this language. Consequently, I came across two free software tools that could aid my study of Lojban: KVocTrain and Mnemosyne. These are two excellent programs that definitely have a place my studies.
