This month, we’re proud to introduce a new column, Command and Conquer. We’ll be taking a look at the command line and hopefully how to make it a little less scary for you.

I’ll give a prime example. Wanted to watch a netflix movie tonight, so of course its a windows IE only application (boo on netflix….i need to start a email campaign towards them about that).

I presented some thoughts on “Linux” and “GNU/Linux” in a recent post What’s in a name? GNU, Linux, or GNU/Linux?, trying to make the case to use “Linux” in preference to “GNU/Linux.”

The web contains an enormous amount of information, and Google has helped to make that information more easily accessible by providing pretty good search facilities. But not everything is written nor is everything well organized to make it easily discoverable. There are millions of people who possess useful knowledge that they would love to share, and there are billions of people who can benefit from it.

I'm going to take a pause from my usual blog topics and discuss something very dear to everyone's heart, wifi.

Once upon a time there was a prosperous and entrepreneurial port city named EMR. EMR had many ships and many ship owners who ferried lots of people to the healing spas that existed in nearby mountains. Unfortunately for the ships and passengers, the harbor was quite rocky and treacherous.
