Free software has many benefits: you can get more secure software, faster updates, lots of tutorials and, definitely, a new way of making software and software that builds communities. From this, the next logical step was Open Hardware.

Documentation
I'll settle for documentation that tells me what I need to know to write drivers to control the hardware; either that or free software drivers so that I am not subject to the hardware's proprietor. Any proprietor that meets those demands will have my loyalty and mindshare.
