"The House Judiciary Committee approved legislation that would make changes to several federal statutes in order to strengthen enforcement of intellectual property rights against domestic and overseas piracy.

An amendment to the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2007 (H.R. 4279), known as the Pro IP Act, was also adopted by voice vote at the April 30 markup session. The new language requires the government to establish a “substantial connection” between the commission of an IP crime and the seizure and forfeiture of property, and clarifies the position of a newly created Intellectual Property Enforcement Representative..."
