Eric Raymond made his bed, now

Eric Raymond made his bed, now he has to sleep in it. The OSI has no power. They are trying to give the phrase "open source" some meaning so that users won't be bamboozled by the use of the phrase by vendors when hawking their wares. He is wasting his time of course. One may as well create an organization that tries to determine whether or not something is really "new and improved". The fact that Microsoft is willing to submit code in order to get that bogus approbation is that it already recognizes that there is enough confusion around "open source" and "free software" that having an "open source" stamp can be used by them to promote the idea one of the reasons for Linux has passed now that Microsoft is also "open source". In my view, one should view anything that deviates from the GPL as a signal to investors that freedom is for sale. "It's Guaranteed".
