MS will be forced to adapt

This is just the beginning and it looks like Microsoft is going to face more competition on desktops, laptops and mobile devices over the next few years. The tide is at last beginning to turn on the MS monopoly, which has been taken completely for granted by many over the last decade or more.

This means that MS will have to change their strategy. It could mean dirty tricks, patent threats made against FOSS developers or more attempts to impose a "Windows tax" on GNU/Linux distros. Perhaps the smartest plan they could follow would be to release at least some versions of Windows for free (as in beer). Such OS versions could perhaps be advertising supported in some way (maybe as part of the desktop background or taskbar).
