An upcoming game, Postal III is slated to have Windows, Mac and Linux ports. This game is designed using the Valve Source Engine. This is probably one of the strongest points, how are they going to make a Mac and Linux port without OpenGL? Clearly something is afoot. ;)

The GTK+ port of WebKit is the first open source HTML render to fully pass the Acid3 test on the Linux platform. WebKit, which is Apple's increasingly popular fork of KDE's KHTML rendering engine, is used by Apple's Safari web browser and the iPhone.

Being a web developer I have often wondered how one would go about making a search engine. I have looked for some tutorials to help me out with some of the algorithms, but off course I didn't find much since the search engine technology is worth A LOT (GOOGLE!).

Open Arena is a Quake 3 style First Person Shooter built on the GPL licensed Open Source Quake 3 engine. It's a stand alone game, so you don't need Quake 3 Arena to play it. Just like Quake 3 Arena, it's a full on, 3d FPS done in the traditional deathmatch style.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (or ET for short) is a FPS (First Person Shooter) game, native for Linux, which borrows concepts from Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and uses the Quake 3 engine.

In October 2006, Terra Soft announced its plan to build the world's first supercomputing cluster using the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), which utilizes the IBM Cell Broadband Engine and the Linux operating system. The idea emerged when Sony Computer Entertainment came knocking on Terra Soft's door, interested in showing that the PS3 is more than merely a game box.
