ASUS' Eee Monitor today has been captured in official photos that confirm the system to be the company's direct answer to the iMac, according to LAPTOP.

ASUS is expanding its Eee PC line to include not one but multiple extra models, including an all-in-one desktop, the company said today at a press event.

Asus has now officially confirmed the existence of this new netbook [Eee PC 904] – and confirmed both its price, and that of its other new models.
The Eee PC 904 is essentially an Eee PC 900 in an Eee PC 1000’s body and it’s aimed at people who want a low-cost laptop with a large(ish) keyboard

This weekend I put together a new machine for my home office to complement the iMac on my desktop. Since I didn’t want to fill up the desk with another mouse and keyboard, I decided to get a USB KVM (Keyboard, Video, Monitor) switch that allows me to go back and forth between the two machines.

In the team interview one of the developers asked me if I ever worked with Macs before. My reply was something like, "Well, I never had to, but I can learn." He chuckled and said, "'...never had to,' I like that." It all worked out and I got the job, but I still had to get accustomed to a big, bright, shiny iMac.

Apple and Linux advocate IBM both tried hard to cramp Microsoft's style this week before the Windows 7 rollout even got under way. On Tuesday, Apple launched a new iMac, MacBook, and Mac Mini line, while IBM joined with Linux distributor Canonical to introduce a new "cloud-and-Linux-based" offering called IBM Client for Smart Work.

X-IVi is a obvious name for two reasons: 1. The base-theme was “Ivi” (Thank to “nale12″). 2. X-IV means 10.4 (Lucid) and the simple “i” means Design (iPod, iMac, …), but don’t care really about the “i”.

Asus is reportedly already planning to release their second generation Eee PC in April 2008 featuring Intel's Merom processor, reduced power consumption and no cooling fan...and will run a customized version of Linux worked out between Asus and Intel.

In response to criticism from Linux enthusiasts, Asus has made additional source code archives available for download with code for the asus_acpi module, BusyBox, and several other components. The code released by Asus brings the company into compliance with its obligations under the GPL and should satisfy most of the critics.
