When i started googling for an embedded filesystem library (something like sqlite, but for a filesystem instead of a database), i came up pretty empty handed. The vast majority of the projects are commercial and the open source ones operate at a different level than i was looking for.
So i started coding...
As of a few days ago, whefs (the WanderingHorse.net Embedded Filesystem) library for C is more or less functional and ready for (beta-stage) use. While there are still rough edges left to smooth out (or rearchitect), the basic features one would expect of an embedded filesystem are all in place. It is released into the public domain, unhindered by any licensing restrictions (or warranties, for that matter).
