MEPIS LLC has released SimplyMEPIS 8.0.10, an update to the community edition of MEPIS 8.0. The updated components include recent updates from the Debian Lenny pool and also the security patched Linux kernel 2.6.27.30.

Back in March an announcement came out of NVIDIA as they were getting ready to launch the GeForce GTX 400 "Fermi" graphics cards that they would be dropping support for the xf86-video-nv driver.

MEPIS has released SimplyMEPIS 8.5.00, RC3 of MEPIS 8.5. "We've updated the kernel to 2.6.32.10. The release notes from the Linux Kernel Team indicated that they have been hard at work making improvements. We have changed the Live media to use isolinux."

The FreeBSD Release Engineering Team is pleased to announce the availability of FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE. This is the third release from the 8-STABLE branch which improves on the functionality of FreeBSD 8.1 and introduces some new features.

It's been seven weeks since the obfuscated xf86-video-nv driver was last updated, so this afternoon NVIDIA's Aaron Plattner decided to release version 2.1.10, which will be in time for X.Org 7.4.

It was just eleven days ago that NVIDIA had released the 180.11 Beta Linux Driver, but in the wee hours of Saturday morning NVIDIA has pushed out a new beta driver. This driver contains a few fixes, support for new GPUs, and an updated implementation of the Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix.

Linus Torvalds has merged the kernel code for the GeForce-compatible nouveau open source graphics driver as a staging driver into the Linux main development tree – from which kernel version 2.6.33 will emerge in around two and a half months.

The ill-maintained, feature-limited, and obfuscated driver known as xf86-video-nv driver has a new release out. This is the first open-source NVIDIA X.Org driver update in several months
