"Finally, I've got round to releasing my Common Lisp web application platform. It is running this blog which has the rather unique feature that comments pop up immediately for everybody whenever anybody comments on an article. It is faster than all(?) other web application frameworks. Please let me know if you can find a faster one! I gave a talk with benchmarks at the Tokyo Linux User Group.

"I've written a new JavaScript editing mode for GNU Emacs, and released it on code.google.com. This is part of a larger project, in progress, to permit writing Emacs extensions in JavaScript instead of Emacs-Lisp. Lest ye judge: hey, some people swing that way. The larger project is well underway, but probably won't be out until late summer or early fall.

Before joining the company he was at Delta Air Lines. In introducing the subject Matt Asay called this code waste. Which gave me a clever idea. Don’t think of these as corporate code contributions. Think of it as code recycling.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, profanity is a lot more common in open source than in closed source software. Also not surprisingly, some people find it offensive while others view it as nothing more than an exercise of free speech.
