I really don’t get it how people can continue pirating proprietary software like some Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) when there are quality, Free Software alternatives like the Gimp or Inkscape.

I wouldn't go back to Adobe products if they were GPL-licensed.

I'm into GIMP and Inkscape now. I have a sense of loyalty to my software community. I want to see how these projects develop in the future.

This is after approximately 10 years of Photoshop, Dreamweaver since v1, Flash since v4.

Now I use Emacs, Firefox (with Firebug), GIMP, Inkscape, and I'm starting to learn Synfig Studio for animation.

If Adobe starts to adapt to the Free Software competition by releasing more of their stuff under the GPL, they'll keep hold of more of their user-base. If not, it won't be easy to regain their users. They've already spent too many years holding out on us.

I'm the same

The only bit of non-free software I used to have was Adobe's pdf reader because of the glitchy way the Free Software varieties used to work. As soon as Kpdf improved its performance it was goodbye to Adobe.
