The Debian project is planning a whole series of enhancements for Debian 5.0 "Squeeze." A few results of the currently running Google Summer of Code are beginning to creep into it.
Finally announced during the annual Debian Developer Conference "Debconf10" in New York that Debian "Squeeze" has now been frozen. In consequence this means that no more new features will be added and all work will now be concentrated on polishing Debian "Squeeze" to achieve the quality Debian stable releases are known for.
"This HOWTO walks you through the installation of Debian GNU/Linux using the graphical installer ("installgui"). It covers some common scenarios - complete over-write of everything on an existing hard drive, dual-boot with another operating system (eg Windows) and installation from CD/DVD and network ("netinst"). This article is based on the Debian 4.0 Stable (Etch) i386 installer."
After 24 months of constant development, the Debian Project is proud to present its new stable version 6.0 (code name "Squeeze"). Debian 6.0 is a free operating system, coming for the first time in two flavours. Alongside Debian GNU/Linux, Debian GNU/kFreeBSD is introduced with this version as a "technology preview".
Debian-Installer Loader is a Debian Etch installer for Windows which adds an entry to the boot menu that allows you to start the Debian installation. Unlike the Ubuntu installation with Wubi, real Debian partitions are created during the installation. In the end, you have a dual-boot system (Windows/Debian).
In essence, the initiative is a Debian Squeeze artwork “contest” where Debian enthusiasts skilled in graphics can contribute themes and propose them to become the official/default theme for Debian Squeeze.

Icinga is an enterprise grade open source monitoring system which keeps watch over networks and any conceivable network resource, notifies the user of errors and recoveries and generates performance data for reporting. It is a fork of Nagios. This tutorial explains how to install Icinga on a Debian Squeeze server to monitor this server and another Debian Squeeze server.
I love the fact that I can sort of follow along as Debian Squeeze makes its way from Testing to Stable with the excellent images from the Debian Live project. For i386, I was impressed with the Alpha 1 system, and today I just burned and tried the Debian Live Alpha 2 image for i386 on the Lenovo G555 laptop.
