Linpus Technologies, Inc., a Linux software solutions provider based in Taipei, Taiwan, just announced that they have ported Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest edition of Android, to run on x86 tablet, netbook and notebook computers.

Aside from Linpus Lite Desktop, distributions from Linpus are usually for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs).

In a previous post I showed you how to install and configure the Android SDK emulator to boot up quickly. What you may have found out by now is that the emulator is incredibly slow. In fact it is only any good if you have the kind of PC that can render the entire Transformers movie in a few minutes.

Even if Google's Android has been having some issues on phones, but it seems to just be picking up in an unlikely place: netbooks. HP is apparently looking at using Android on future netbooks.
