Post-Torvalds

I think this article gets it all wrong, since it assumes that for the Linux kernel to survive requires strong top down cathedral-style leadership. In interviews Linus Torvalds himself has said that it would not be a big problem if he stepped down and did something else.

Linus ought to upgrade the Kernel to GPLv3.

If Linus is going to embrace Digital Restrictions Management, I don't think it matters if he retires or not. If Linus won't upgrade, the Linux kernel will need to be replaced by a different kernel licensed under GPLv3 which doesn't allow DRM.
