The Fedora Project is reporting version 13 (code name "Goddard") of the Fedora Linux distribution is scheduled for release on May 18th of this year.

The alpha release already includes all the changes expected to find their way into the distribution, which is scheduled for a mid-May release. These include a new GNOME program for colour calibrating hardware and Linux kernel 2.6.33

Things went as scheduled. Fedora 9, code-named "Sulphur" has just been released. Fedora 9 promises some significant improvements over its "Werewolf" predecessor. Though this is a major release version of this Red Hat-sponsored distribution, the excitement is less compared to the flight of the "Heron".

The Fedora project released a beta version of Fedora 13 (codenamed "Goddard"). The updated community Linux distribution is touted for features including automatic print-driver installation, the Btrfs filesystem, enhanced 3D driver support, revamped Python bindings, and the Zarafa groupware package, says the project.

As the developers have announced, the Fedora Project has made the first and only alpha version of Fedora 12, codename Constantine, available to download – as ever a little later than originally planned.

By now you would know that the next Fedora release, Fedora 13, will be named "Goddard", after the famous Rocket scientist Robert H Goddard. After deciding on the name, fedora contributors have started working on the designs, themes and other artwork for the next release.
