Winners - losers
While we keep trying to copy their garbage; we're losing.
When they start trying to copy our software; we'll be winning.

From Mostly Terrible to Bad
I don't mind Office 2007's interface and I wouldn't mind if OO.o copied it. I've done some research on human-computer interaction and based upon that knowledge and my limited experience interacting with Office 2k7, I can definitely say that MS Office's new model of interaction is an improvement over it's previous models.
Having said that, office's new model still fails as a humane user interface; I consider it inhumane as compared to very inhumane. A humane interface is a model of computer interaction for humans that accounts well for human strengths and weaknesses. The new office model remains fairly faithful to the traditional inhumane models of human-computer interaction and so, it still adopts various problems of the traditional model.
On this note of inhumane computer interaction, I'd also like to add that In my eyes, our GNU/Linux systems still fail as a humane interface. This is because our systems still follow that traditional inhumane model. I'd like to say that I'm working on a solution to this problem, but I'm finding harder and harder to find time to work on my solution :( .
