"the first GNU/Linux Install Fest, organised here on Saturday turned out to be a big success with hordes of people queuing up with PCs and laptops to install free software braving heavy summer showers. As many as 40 installations were made and around 280 CDs were distributed in the fest.

Atlanta Linux Fest 2009 will be held Saturday, September 19th, 2009, which is also Software Freedom Day. Ubuntu, Fedora, and openSUSE will be presenting upcoming releases and interesting projects that have been going in their respective communities. Open Source projects like SugarCRM, Drupal, and Blender will be represented. Discussions about GPLv3 and women in OSS wil be held.

Call for papers for the 9th annual Ohio Linux Fest, the open source conference held in Columbus Ohio. This year it will be September 9-11, 2011.

It’s a long way from Florida to Ontario, but it was totally worth it. Spent this weekend in Toronto to attend the Ontario Linux Fest for the first time. It was a smallish show, but the level of enthusiasm was enormous.

Mandriva is co-ordinating an international Install Fest for the new Mandriva Linux 2009 release, on November 22nd, 2008. If you are involved with a LUG or other community group and would be interested in running a local event as part of the Install Fest, Mandriva will provide professionally pressed One CDs and other material.
