I've been thinking about this whole "free software related" thing.
I am starting to think that rather than the focus of FSDaily being on "free software related news", it makes more sense to be focussed on "news for the free software community".

It's got my vote. There's many Free Software related *issues* that aren't, in themselves, directly about Free Software. Devious Microsoft machinations calculated to adversely impact on Free Software would be among the most prominent examples of those.

This is kind of an arbitrary distinction. I would say that whole list (DRM, software patents, etc.) is free software-related. It's just not free software-specific.

I absolutely agree. I am really interested in reading stuff about DRM, and what FS competitors are doing, and other things that impact on people's freedoms, even if they aren't STRICTLY "free software" in the narrowest definition.

Thanks for your responses. I figured it wa a no brainer, as issues that surround free software (freedom, free culture, DRM, etc.) have already been promoted many times on FSDaily. All the same, I wanted to make sure.
So we can focus on the new slogan "News for and by the free software community". :)

We could also argue that software release announcements are "free software news", yet i doubt that many people want to see fsdaily turn into another Freshmeat.

No. The stories we have here should
No. The stories we have here should stay the same. I was just looking for support in keeping it that way, because I've heard arguments that some of the articles aren't exactly free software related.
