All European countries saw an increase in Firefox participation with Hungary showing the most dramatic increase from 27.2%, in the latest March 2007 survey, to 39.7%. Overall, Europe grew from 24.1% to 27.8%.

The latest figures from French based Internet traffic analyst XiTiMonitor shows that the Mozilla's Firefox web browser has continued to take market share off Microsoft's Internet Explorer across the globe over the past year, with a significant spike in Firefox usage in December 2007.

The Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organisation behind the Firefox web browser, has published its first ever Quarterly Analyst Report on the state of the internet and its browser's worldwide market share

"...Firefox web browser, which is distributed by Mozilla, has a 28-percent share of the European market, according to a report released in July by French web analytics company, XiTi Monitor..."

Mozilla's Web browser, Firefox, has gained on average an extra 3.1 percent of the market in 32 European countries in the past four months, according to French Web-monitoring company XiTi Monitor.

On the back of the release last week of Firefox 3.0, Mozilla's open-source browser gained market share at the expense of rivals Internet Explorer (IE) and Safari, Net Applications said Monday.

Mozilla achieved an important milestone in November, sailing past 20% market share over an entire month for the first time since its release in November 2004. While Safari and Chrome were able to take over share from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as well, Mozilla’s Firefox leaped by almost a full percentage point over October, according to data provided by Net Applications.

It has been six weeks since Firefox 3 has been released and if we believe market share numbers provided by an ongoing survey of NetApplications, then it appears that Mozilla has had a successful launch with market share gains, especially at the expense of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

In John Lilly’s blog post in November about Firefox market share, he said one of the most important factors for figuring out how Firefox is doing is the health of addons.mozilla.org (also known as AMO). AMO recently hit a few milestones, so I thought an update (or perhaps initial view) of the add-ons community was in order.
