Those who have been following Gluon closely over the last months know that at the developer sprint in Munich in October 2009 the foundations were laid down for the Gluon vision. Put simply, Gluon provides a new way for game creators to make games and distribute them to the players of games.

Now we have reached a point in time where we can create games with Gluon Creator, and do it properly. We have the beginnings of the social features which are the basis of the connection between the makers and players of games. And we have a game engine which by now has most of the features required to create games in today's demanding world.

Dan Leinir Turthra Jensen, when not solving interoperability problems between Open Document Format (ODF) editors at KO GmbH, spends his time developing GamingFreedom.org: a gaming orientated social network which promotes Free culture, and Gluon: a full featured modern game engine, based on the Qt framework.

The Amarok team is proud to announce the first beta version of Amarok 2, codenamed Nerrivik, released after days of hard work during this year’s Akademy in Belgium. KDE is proud to announce the release of the next generation Kontact PIM Suite, based on the Akonadi framework. In addition to this, we are also proud to announce the June maintenance update of the KDE Software Compilation 4.6. Unsurprisingly, the port of Kontact to Akonadi is finally being released the same day as Duke Nukem Forever, making it relatively timely.
