The infamous Chris Blizzard, who now sits on the board of directors for the Mozilla Corporation and formerly sat on the board for the Mozilla Foundation, will be joining the Mozilla Corporation’s team as a full-time employee.

Mozilla has unveiled a spectacular new concept browser, dubbed Aurora. The bleeding-edge browser is part of a new Mozilla Labs initiative, in which the open-source foundation is encouraging people to contribute ideas and designs for the browser of the future.

Mozilla wants Firefox to get in on the social web. First came The Coop, which remains an active project, and now Chris Beard, VP and General Manager for Mozilla Labs, says that Mozilla is looking to develop an open, extensible framework for online services.

Mozilla chief evangelist Mike Shaver says the latest Firefox information leakage bug warning is exaggerated.

"...If you are old enough, you may remember the Mozilla Application Suite that preceded standalone Firefox and Thunderbird. The Mozilla suite featured an integrated browser, email/news client, IRC chat client, and HTML page editor. When the Mozilla Foundation officially stopped developing the suite in 2003, the first three components lived on in Firefox, Thunderbird, and ChatZilla.

Mozilla's Sunbird calendaring application lives perpetually in the shadow of its siblings Firefox and Thunderbird, garnering just a fraction of the developer effort and publicity lavished on the browser and email client. Nevertheless, it is slowing maturing into a reliable tool worthy of the Mozilla brand.
