I haven't read the article yet,

I haven't read the article yet, but I am running my 'Windows' business perfectly on Linux. I made the move 2 days ago and for all the Windows stuff (Delphi and Access mainly) that I just can't do with a Linux equivalent, I set up a large VirtualBox running XP. To ensure a smooth ride I built a new pc from all new parts and installed Ubuntu 64. The main specs that make this pc work so well are, fast dual core with 4 gigs ram, a 500gig harddrive and a 20 inch LCD.

I am a contract programmer and with this rig, it should be rare that I need to dual boot. I created a 20gig Windows partion which is currently empty.

At some point I hope to get involved in contributing to open source software, but for now that is in the future.
